Hello Everyone!!......
I would firstly like to begin this newsletter by saying how proud we are of all the children this past term. All of our children have settled back into nursery life very well this past term, over coming changes and enjoying their nursery experience. Over this next coming term I will be sharing some information with all our families about the ethos behind why whitstabubbles does some of the things it does as we know that nursery is not just a journey for our children but the families too. These will be posted on the face book page, notice board and via the parent announcements on whatsapp.
The overriding ethos of the nursery is to always put wellbeing of our children first and this is what we focus on when a child begins their journey with us. Our approach to ‘teaching’ is based on us knowing our children and through this allows us to implement a approach called ‘in the moment planning’ allowing practitioners to act in the moment to extend children and build on their knowledge using a child's interests as a basis. Along side this we take alot of inspiration from the curiosity approach, which is a child led aspect of learning within practitioners are present to facilitate and engage with children whilst keeping them safe within their learning experience.
Over the past term we have had three new members of staff join the existing team at whitstabubbles and with this in mind and so everyone is aware of staff roles I have listed them below
Fiona- nursery manager/owner-SENCO and safe guarding lead
Jaysie deputy manager
Jackie nursery practitioner
Claire nursery practitioner
Tiffany apprentice nursery practitioner
Olivia nursery practitioner
Emma nursery practitioner
Lucy- student practitioner from Canterbury college
Lily-student practitioner from Canterbury college
We also have students that visit us from the Whitstable school.
In order to put names to faces all staff will have pictures displayed on the notice board over the next couple of weeks.
Two year checks- these are completed by health visitors and the nursery as soon after a child turns Two. Currently these are being completed a bit later by the health visiting team, I would suggest speaking to health visitors as soon as your child turns two in order for it to be completed ASAP. The nursery also has a direct link with the local children’s centre, Chloe Coleman and she can be contacted here on 03000416262-alternatively the nursery can make contact for you and raise any concerns regarding any aspect of your child’s development or parenting.
Updates and information
-unfortunately we are no longer able to store families push chairs at nursery throughout the day due to space.
-can we please ask that items brought into nursery are kept at a minimum.
The children love seeing family photos displayed in the nursery, if you have any you can share with us we are happy to print them out.
With the colder weather upon us I would recommend layering your children’s clothes for nursery, although we have a heated room where the nursery door is open to allow free flow to the garden the room can become cooler at certain times of the day.
Alongside this can I remind families that the incubation period for sickness and diarrhoea is 48 hours from the last episode. With most children experiencing coughs and colds over the winter months we advice that children do not attend setting if a cough or a cold is accompanied by a temperature. Please do not give your child calpol and then send them to nursery as this will wear off by lunchtime. The nursery is only permitted to administer medication that has been prescribed by the doctor. I would like to reassure families that the nursery is cleaned on a daily basis, anything that goes in a child’s mouth ie- cutlery and drinks bottles tops are also sterilised daily.
Nursery contribution
The nursery contribution of £10 a term is now due, thank you to all the families who contributed last term and also to those who have already contributed this term. Please find attached an envelope with the list of what this contribution goes towards.
Christmas social
This term ends on Thursday 14th December and our Christmas social will be held on Friday 15th December, we will return to nursery on Monday 8th January. The social will be held at the nursery from 1-2.30. This will be a time for all our families to meet and enjoy some Christmas activities with of course a visit from the man in red. If all families can let me know who will be attending as it is an indoor event we may need to restrict numbers depending on who wants to attend.
As always if you have any questions about the information given above please speak to a member of staff
